Back at it again, but for such an amazing cause. Local boxes not only came to battle it out on WODs but the purpose was to help with the fight for Gabby. Great turn out, competition was run on time and was put together so well. Thank you CrossFit Kenmore for doing an amazing job. Staff, judges, announcers, the box itself. Was done great.
As for my 425 teams #1 and #2. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, but as a coach seeing your athletes go out and perform, challenge themselves, and work with each other. Such an amazing thing to watch. Whether it was a fast 800m run, squat snatches with a few misses. Rowing PR's... and my favorite, two of our athletes Tarelle did 197/200 UB D/U's and Laura Ruppert came close with 185/200 UB D/U's. To watch Tarelle come back from us being down and not mess up was awesome. All of our runners, Scott Danly, Tarelle, Laura, came in first on their pruns.
Big props to Sam DeBord who got a text at 7:29am with me begging him to do this comp. One of our athletes (James) got extremely sick, so he stepped in. Thank you. Got thrown in the mix and didn't miss a beat. Burpee wall balls maybe his favorite movement now. Megan, did an awesome job on her squat snatches, even dropped to her knee for a few. Jonny, killed the Row and although with a hurt wrist, pushed through all Squat Snatches.
As for my squad, we came together on all cylinders and put together not one, but two, #1 finishes. Rachel Schreiber and Tarelle helped us out with the burpee wall balls, and Deadlifts we got yelled at by Rachel to, "come on! Let's go, pick it up!" Haha Scott kept my old ass in check and made me push through it all. So it's been awhile, but proud to say we came out on top. 1st place🥇 to some bad ass competitors. Kirkland had a dominating team with the number 1 masters guy in the region on their squad. North Sound CrossFit athletes were all competitors and pushed us to our limits. Northwest always has some strong athletes and Kenmore and Team Perry had good size and strength to their athletes.
All in all it was a blast, for a great cause, a great family, and a special lil girl who fights like no other. Keep the fight going Gabby. Thanks again CrossFit Kenmore. Until next year when we get to bring our sweet prize back for the battle.
Thanks to Zachary Vonderach, Skeets Fletcher, Joy Kang and Ryan Meno for coming to cheer us on.
